Last Night in the States....Bittersweet

So it's my last night, simple as that. Nothing exciting. I plan on camping out on the couch, cuddling with my boyfriend, and drinking a buttload of sweet tea. Like I said, nothing too exciting. I have to be at the airport around 4, so I'm in for a pretty long night. Good thing Matt will be here to help.

So far, I've solved my packing dilemma. Meaning that I've actually done it. All 3 bags. One of which is strictly for the ministry. Another duffel are things for the staff and some of my personal things. The final (and smallest) is filled with my clothes. I tell ya filling 5 weeks into 1 duffel was quite interesting. My mom and I def tested the limits of our relationship. Haha. But none the less, they are full and waiting by the door for Matt to carry to the car upon our departure for the airport. He's the best, he really is, and boy will I miss him. But I know I'm leaving him in good hands :)

Well I have to go to a family dinner thingy for my grandparents so I should probably get off here. I'll try to update asap tomorrow but no promises, it'll be a long day full of horrible airport food and violating security checks. So I love ya'll and will holler at ya later.

Great song and the only one running through my head tonight. To my family and friends, I'll miss you and I love you. To my amazing boyfriend, I adore you, but then again you already knew that. So thank you for loving me enought to let me go baby, I love you :)

Adios ya'll

Packing Dilemma

2 days and counting. All of today, all of tomorrow, and I leave at 4am on Saturday. I wish I could tell you my bags are packed and waiting by the door, but that would be a lie. I've slept on the couch the past 2 nights because it looks like a bomb has exploded on my bed, the only thing that makes sense in the confusion is the open empty suitcase in the middle of it all. I don't know why I can't find the motivation to just go in there and tackle it but I really can't. Perhaps it's because I know I won't be sleeping tomorrow so I'll just do it then or maybe it's because for the first time, I'm packing more than just clothes and such. Who knows, but it will get done eventually I suppose. And ya know what, I'm actually really good at packing. Years of being a military brat and traveling the world alone have taught me the art of living out of a suitcase. I just wish I could find some drive to go in there and get it done. Pray for me.

The last time I was in the airport at 4am. Great trip. Great friends. Love ya'll.

I'm Leaving On A Jet Plane

So thank you John Denver for the song that has become the title of my travel blog. I'm not gonna pretend I'm good at this blogging stuff and such but people have asked me to do it and I figured I owed them that much. So I'll be updating everyday of my trip, almost 2 months in the mountains of Guatemala. I'm not exactly sure what that will consist of, maybe stories or a song or pictures. Maybe something that inspired me that day or heck maybe just a bible verse. Like I said, I'm not gonna pretend I know what I'm doing but I sure am gonna try for ya'll.

I suppose I should back track for ya'll. I leave for Chichicastenango, Guatemala in 3 days. Or maybe 4 depending on how you look at it. I'm going to be interning for an amazing ministry, Pray America,  for the next 5 weeks. I'll be building widow houses, working with feeding programs, hanging out with the teams, and doing some other projects for the ministry, in which I'm not sure of yet. What I do know, is that the next 5 weeks will prove to be extremely challenging but also extremely fufilling.

So I'll leave you with this:

Cutest kid ever :)
